چکیده
.ABSTRACT Hyaline membrane disease (HMO) is 1 r spunto1y liseasc c.:omm nly found in pr tern infants. Whil th1s disease occurs as th result ol surfa WJ1t ddi. icnc , which is a function of gestali nal age, certain maternal and neonatal factors play a role m the development of the d1sorder. Preterm mfants born al Lh D parlment f ( bst •trics and Gynecology, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, between, March 1997 and May 1998 were studied for the development of HMO. It was concluded that antepartum hemorrhage, gestational ag , sex, mod of birth, and the lirst minute Apgar score were associated with the development of HMD, whit· the use of ontraccpt.lv s, early rupture of the membrane, maternal morbidity, and passive cigat tte smoking were not. Assessment of risk factors of premanturity among neonates born in Bandar Abbas Shariati Hospital
Introduction: Prematurity remains the main cause of mortality and morbidity in infants and a problem in the care of pregnant women world-wide. This study describes the risk factors for having a live preterm delivery in Bandar Abbas Shariati Hospital. Methods: In this case-control study, we studied 300 neonates who were borned in Shariati hospital in 2011 and divided them into two groups: case g...
متن کاملHospital admission due to respiratory viral infections in moderate preterm, late preterm and term infants during their first year of life.
BACKGROUND Respiratory viral infections are a major cause of hospitalisation in infants <1 year and might cause severe symptoms in preterm infants. Our aim was to analyse admissions due to respiratory infections in moderate, late and term infants, and to identify risk factors for hospitalisation in preterm versus term. METHODS Prospective study in a cohort of moderate and late preterm, and te...
متن کاملReduction in periventricular haemorrhage in preterm infants.
Our previous cerebral ultrasound study of antecedents of periventricular haemorrhage in infants weighing 1250 g or less at birth suggested that neonatal events that caused increased or fluctuating cerebral blood flow lead to periventricular haemorrhage. As the risk period for this type of haemorrhage was the first four days of life strict guidelines were introduced to avoid the previously ident...
متن کاملAssessment of Maternal Risk Factors Associated with Mortality in Preterm Infants
Background & Aims: Detection of maternal risk factors associated with neonatal mortality helps to identify high-risk infants and prevent neonatal death. It can also contribute to the design more effective prenatal care. This study was performed aiming to evaluate the maternal risk factors associated with mortality in preterm infants in Mashhad Ghaem Hospital, Iran, during 2009-2014. Methods: Th...
متن کاملHyaline membrane disease and intraventricular haemorrhage in small for gestational age infants.
19 small for gestational age (SGA) infants with gestational ages less than or equal to 32 weeks were matched with 19 appropriate for gestational age (AGA) preterm neonates with similar risk factors for intraventricular haemorrhage and hyaline membrane disease. Gestational age, 1- and 5-minute Apgar scores, type of delivery, survival rate, use of corticosteroids before delivery, sex, twinning, p...
